![]() I'd encourage you to contact the program, they probably have a time for prospective students to visit or will at least connect you to some recent grads who you can ask about the program. Once nice advantage of being in Austin is that there are lots of tech companies so I'm guess (just guessing here) that getting an internship would be easier than in other places (e.g., Urbana, IL or Syracuse, NY). I'd encourage you to look through their online course catalog to see what they offer. That said, they are a member of the iSchool Caucus so I'm sure they have a fairly robust set of courses relevant to HCI/UX. I don't know much about the program, but it looks like it might have retained a bit more of the librarian/archivist heritage than others (e.g., UC Berkeley iSchool). Like many other similar programs the iSchool was previously a School of Library Science, but has evolved to also provide concentrations relevant to UX, information studies, etc. It is a well respected institution and has a strong national reputation. University of Texas, Austin is one of the best schools in the world (probably top 50, definitely top 100) and easily one of the best public schools in the USA (definitely top 25). With the resources of five federally-funded area studies centers and UT's nationally recognized foreign language programs, Comparative Literature at UT Austin is able to draw on a unique wealth of resources. Having been selected as the administrative home of the American Comparative Literature Association from 2002-2011, the Program embraced an ever more inclusive view of the field. Our students come from more than a dozen countries. Its fifty affiliated faculty members work in areas as varied as medieval pre-print culture, Persian cinema, Latin American Magic Realism, images of the African diaspora, sexual identity in the late nineteenth century and imperial aftermaths. Created by a group of innovative faculty from across the college who sought to create a rigorous interdisciplinary program of graduate study, it has embraced the challenge of theory inclusively. ![]() Founded in the 1960s on the traditional philological and philosophical bases of the discipline, UT's Program in Comparative Literature has always displayed strengths in both European and non-European languages and literatures.
